Eligibility

  • For Indian Participants - Graduates (10+2+3) or Diploma Holders (only 10+2+3) from a recognized university (UGC/AICTE/DEC/AIU/State Government) in any discipline with a minimum of 4 years of work experience as on 01 January 2017.
  • For International Participants - Graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized University or Institution in their respective country with a minimum of 4 years of work experience as on 01 January 2017.

About Course

The program on Strategic Performance Management is a multi-functional program. It is targeted at executives with a minimum of 4 years of work experience, predominantly focusing on leadership level and those in the process of preparing for such responsibilities. The content and the pedagogy of this program are oriented to expose the participants to:

  • The multi-dimensional nature of organizational performance challenges.
  • The pitfalls in trying to resolve problems using a uni-functional approach.
  • The processes of problem analysis that allow for integration of multiple dimensions and crafting strategies to resolve such problems.

Pedagogy

The classes for this programme will be held through LIVE lectures that will be beamed online via internet to student desktops/laptops or classrooms using Talentedge’s Direct To Device platform. The pedagogy will comprise of lectures and case discussions imparted by XLRI’s HR faculty. Select industry experts would also be included to provide practical insights. Concepts will be explained using real life and industry relevant examples.

Syllabus

As contrasted to the linear and modular approach, this program adopts the integrated problem oriented approach via the use of cases. It implies that complex holistic problems, in the form of cases, will be used to understand different dimensions of the problem, look at holistic solutions, understand trade-offs in decision making so that as participants are guided to improve from being a mere practitioner to a subject matter expert.

  • Implementation of pay-for-performance plans.
  • Role of Performance Management In Organizational Development, and tLeadership and its impact on Performance Management.

Faculty

Prof. Soumendra Narain Bagchi BE(Civil Engg), Delhi College of Engineering; Fellow (IIM Ahmedabad)

Prof. Soumendra Narain Bagchi has been teaching in XLRI Jamshedpur since 2005, after being awarded the Fellow in Management from IIM Ahmedabad. He graduated as a civil engineer from Delhi College of Engineering after which he worked for nearly 5 years in different roles in project management in HSCC(I) Ltd., a Government of India Enterprise.

After completing his doctoral studies from IIM Ahmedabad, he joined XLRI where he has been teaching the subject of Performance Management. He has taught both students and practicing managers during his stay in XLRI. Apart from that he has also been engaged in consultancy regarding audit, design and implementation of performance management systems. His other areas of interest include case-based research, human resource management practices in service – based organizations and industrial relations.

He has authored multiple teaching cases along with books on Performance Management and Election Campaign Strategy.
