Managing performance of organization implies successful implementation of strategy by the employees via performance of responsibilities assigned to them. This course incorporates this principle as the foundation upon which all case discussions, in-session deliberations and assignments will be based on.
While an awareness of the principles of performance management can be easily be obtained from any standard book on the subject, knowledge about the principles is distinctly different from the correct application of the same. It is the application of these principles in different contexts which distinguishes a subject matter expert from a novice.
As contrasted to the linear and modular approach, this program adopts the integrated problem oriented approach via the use of cases. It implies that complex holistic problems, in the form of cases, will be used to understand different dimensions of the problem, look at holistic solutions, understand trade-offs in decision making so that as participants are guided to improve from being a mere practitioner to a subject matter expert.
Cases, describing problem scenarios, will be taken from multiple manufacturing and service industries, illustrating different kinds of problems. The variety of problem scenarios, offers to the participants a unique opportunity to engage in a variety of managerial situations to understand, and develop their skills in applying the principles of the subject. Tools like Balance Scorecard, EFQM, Hoshin Matrix etc., will be discussed along with challenges faced in their implementation. A live project will be part of the programme.
The course aims to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding in the following areas of performance management.

Organizational Strategy and its interlinks with Performance Management

Impact of Organizational Structure and Operational Process on Performance Management Process

Performance Management Frameworks: Designing and implementing frameworks like Balanced Scorecard, Hoshin Matrix etc.
